This song is an electronic powerhouse. It’s just brilliant indie dance music. Its driving beat and great melody have me jumping up an down in my bedroom singing into an invisible microphone in my hand. They are still in their teens and are fucking brilliant…fair play young boys. Now for those who are familiar with the likes of the Klaxons, Friendly Fires, Cut Copy, Passion Pit and Late of the Pier this is most definitely for you. It is also for the people who love dance music but secretly would love to get into better music(hehe) like my sister. The bashfully ask “what’s that song you were listening to there a minute ago?”

That song was Lies by a band called Fenech-Soler! 🙂

I’m making up for lost time here. This is a gem of a song here…no pun intended…ok it was intended but don’t fuck me up. I’m nice really. This reminds me of the fun psychedelics of Of Montreal and MGMT mixed with the upbeat ‘get up and dance’ and smile while your at it music of Polyphonic Spree.

This is a feel good indie pop song…simple as! Its very, how should I put it…Beatlesque.

Once again sorry for my absense. I’ve been surfing in a big sea somewhere warm. Ok that’s a lie. I’ve been in my room editing and getting the sitcom ready like a mad sitcom making ant. But this song makes me wish I was surfing somewhere warm. And to be honest I hate sea water and surfing never really appealed to me. Ok I’ve changed my mind…this song makes me want to lie on a hammock on a beach where I can watch the band play this song as they surf telling me to take it easy. That’s more like it! And maybe the hammock could turn into like a magic surfing hammock so I could surf the waves while lying in the hammock without getting wet but still looking way better than everybody else. Damn that sounds good. Can’t wait.

But yeah this song makes me want to do all that. Its got a great beachy feel to it. With beachy percussion going on in the back and a very fun and hummable riff. So listen to it and go hammock surfing!

And of course Take it Easy! 🙂

Apologies for lack of music postage. Been working like a chain gang, except instead of fixing roads I’ve been editing a sitcom.

I hope this absolute gem makes up for it! All I can say is WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW! 25 O’s later and I’m still amazed. I want to play the song again, I played it again, I’m dancing…must write blog…*BREAKS INTO AFRICAN CHANT* Now I’m singing like Ezra but I don’t quite have any clue what he is on about “a laayyy ohhh sa wan ge a ma la ooh wa le wohhhh oh ohhhh sekatana sekatana! palingo ze pango” Something along those lines anyway.

I’m going to describe this song in a way unique to myself as a result of my complete lack of musiky talk. Everybody knows and has met that really REALLY REALLY happy African man! You know the one who is always smiling like a mad thing and he calls everyone his friend…mainly because everybody is his best friend after 2 seconds in his company.

Well this song is him! It also reminds me of the side of Africa that just looks brilliant…you know where they are all smiling and dancing and selling fruit by the sea etc. I actually want to go to Africa after this. Yaaay! And to top it off and make it original…Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig guest stars in the song! And his voice is just so chilled out and fun.

I think the video is just brilliant too…the brilliantly obvious use of chroma keying(green screen) and Ezra’s brilliantly bad/great dancing.

One of my songs of the year!

🙂

Another great track for you here. To me this song is like a cross between the Smiths/Death in Vegas/Jesus and the Mary Chain. Basically its a song that could have been in the amazing soundtrack to Lost in Translation. The guitar and sound is very like that of the Smiths or even Joy Division…that low-fi raw indie sound. And then the lead honcho, a guy by the name of Jack Tatum sings a haunting wordless chorus which is just lovely. Even the singing that is not in the chorus(my lack of musical talk knowledge is just astounding) has a beautiful haunting echoey sound to it. This is just a win win song for me! I’ve had it on repeat for the last hour. Love it!
